Professor John Mullin
We are saddened to learn of the passing away of John Mullin, Professor Emeritus at University College London, after a short illness. John spent his academic life at UCL where he was recognised as an excellent and dedicated teacher and was perhaps best known for his comprehensive book Crystallisation. Whilst some might be enjoying a well-earned retirement, John was planning a comprehensive update of Crystallisation. John was the focal point of crystallisation in the UK in the '60s and '70s attracting visiting scientists from all over the world. Our sympathies go to his wife Averil and family.
The funeral will take place at Breakspeare crematorium in Ruislip at 12.45 on Thursday 19th March.

Newsletter
From 1980 to 2006 the Association published up to three Newsletters per year containing news and features about personalities, teams, facilities, processes, discoveries and many other facets of crystal growth. They also contained reports on both BACG sponsored conferences and those attended by members, particularly those who received a travel grant to attend.
News is now published online, allowing for more regular and timely updates.

Although some details may already be out of date, the general trends remain, and members may be interested in the scale of commercial crystal growth across Western Europe.
My other interests in silicon powder technology and renewable energy technology are also on the website.
